A young man sits beneath a tree, arms crossed and gaze lowered, unable to see the three cups before him or the fourth a cloud offers from the sky. He is absorbed in his inner world, unaware of opportunities passing before his eyes.

The sign (upright): Apathy, introspection, discontent without a clear cause. You have options before you, but none excite you. This card does not accuse you of ingratitude; it shows that your gaze is so focused inward that you cannot see what life offers from outside. The fourth cup floats before you. You only need to lift your head. This is a moment of emotional withdrawal. It is all right to feel it. But do not stay there forever. Apathy is a season, not a destination. Soon something will pull you from your lethargy and return you to your course.
“I lift my gaze. Gratitude wakes me; presence opens the door to what is new.”
Shadow prompt
Things are happening in front of you. Good things. You do not see them. From looking inward so long, the outside disappeared.
A symbolic gesture
Go somewhere you know by heart. Sit and look as if you had never been there. Find three things you had not seen. The fourth will appear on its own.
Every card holds a story only you can hear.
Four of Cups doesn't read the same on every map — yours holds something different. Let three cards show you what this one means for you. No sign-up needed.
