A bent man carries a heavy bundle of ten wands on his back. He walks slowly toward a town in the distance, but his burden keeps him from looking ahead. He sees only the ground. The wands were not imposed on him; he picked them up. The self-imposed burden, the weight of responsibilities when they stopped being yours and became your identity.
Fire
The sign (upright): You are carrying too much. Responsibilities, commitments, and expectations—your own and other people's—have piled up until you can no longer see the path. This card does not tell you to be irresponsible; it asks you to consider which of these wands are truly yours. You picked up some without noticing; others were handed to you and you did not know how to say no. It is time to delegate, release, and prioritize. The town is near, but you will not arrive if you keep looking at the ground. Let go of half the weight and you will be able to lift your head and see where you are going—the horizon.
“I release burdens that are not mine to carry. My worth is not measured by how much weight I bear, but by how much life I let flow.”
Shadow prompt
Look at the load you carry. Count the wands. How many are yours, and how many were placed on you?
A symbolic gesture
Load your arms with everything you can: books, clothes, whatever is close by. Walk that way for one minute. Feel the weight. Then drop it all on the floor at once. Pick up only what you truly need. The rest can wait.
